The SAFEGUARD security metal detector is designed to detect concealed metal objects ranging in size from small targets (foil, small nails, razor blades, etc.) to a handgun.

Detection range increases with the size of an object.  Large guns and knives can be detected up to 8” away where a razor blade would be detected from about 3” away.
